When it comes to male fashion, there are a few names that cannot be left out, and todays interview, we will be talking with one of these few gifted and selected person. A dear friend of mine, Oscar Page.
First of all, thank you Oscar for taking time to do this interview. I am sure everyone will love to know the answers to these questions. So let’s begin with something that I ask everyone,

Q: How and when did you start to take part in this virtual world? What attracted you the most at first sight?

Oscar: Well I had a group of friends that had come into SL from a WWII shooter game that I used to play competitively. I’m sure the acronym CAL doesn’t mean all that much to anybody, but it was seen as the pinnacle of online gaming leagues in the US that I played in and it’s now defunct. I think the limitless possibilities and hanging out with my friends were the best parts when I first got into the game. It was like a 3D chat room for me.

Q: How did you get involved in the fashion industry in second life?

Oscar: Actually it was sort of a function of my job. Post-college graduation I bounced around bit in jobs looking for a home and I found it in retail. Ever since then the fashion world both RL and SL have piqued my interest.

Q: When and what was your first fashion related job on second life?

Oscar: My first fashion-related job was when I did a store ad for Casa del Shai. It was for her smoking tuxes. I can’t remember when that was, but it was a while ago. About 2 years ago.

Q: We often hear that lots of agencies lacks male models for runways shows, there are many male avatars around, what you think is their main problem that prevents them to become a model?

Oscar: I think it’s probably the time, effort, or just the feeling that it’s just beneath them. A lot of the people who would be fantastic models are fantastic photographers and really creative people. It’s creatively backwards in becoming a model because it relinquishes that control over what they’re wearing to somebody else.

Q: What do you think are the qualities that make up a good stylist?

Oscar: The best stylists in SL really just bring you straight emotion. They lay down their personality in front of you with their clothing (whether on their body or what they sell) and say, “Take it or leave it, this is who I am.” It’s more about creating a persona than it is always having the latest and greatest things in SL.

Q: Who are the people you admire in second life?

Oscar: In terms of fashion admiration Shai Delacroix, Strawberry Singh, Sylar Boyd, more people with S names, Catero Revolution, James Schwarz, and Thailia Jie come to mind off the top of my head. Some of them I just admire as people beyond anything fashion related.

Q: Do you consider yourself a fashion icon?

Oscar: I’ve been told by some that I am, but I honestly laugh when they say it. I have fun with clothing and like to put a good look together. An icon, I have a hard time believing.

Q: What do you think is in trend for this winter 09 seasons?

Oscar: In terms of menswear…plaids are big (especially diagonal/off-angle usage), shawl collars are a must (sweaters or suits), military influences are still in style, contrast piping (new W&B shirts), fingerless gloves (new from Reek), trapper hats, newsboy caps, bow ties, etc.

Once again, thank you Oscar for your time.
