Today we are introducing you the GIA Style Scene. This regular column will present interviews and fashion identities of SL’s established and upcoming fashion designers. They all make our shopping excursions fun and addictive and we all want to know what they have in mind! The following lines are all about Gianni Broda and her edgy brand that is focusing on 50’s fashion, the MOD lifestyle and the high-fashion look that the top model Twiggy was representing so well. No doubt that after reading this, Cashmere will become your second skin!

My advice to people looking to get into fashion in SL is to never design for the trend of the moment because then you’re just like everyone else.”Gianni Broda

Hello Gianni, how are you ? Can you introduce yourself to our blog readers ?
I’m Gianni Broda owner and designer of Cashmere.
Why did you name your brand “Cashmere” ?
I was looking for a unique name that no one would forget.
Could you define the spirit of your brand?
My brand is very free… It can be high fashion sometimes and sometimes I take the more casual route but all in all you’ll leave my store with some sort of individuality.
How do you design and create your pieces ?
I always try to be innovative with my designs… I don’t like to follow the SL’s fashion trends… I usually just sit at my PC until the magic happens and then I get right to work.
What were your motivations to release a skin line ?
I felt like the skin world had lost some of its individuality… I wanted to create a skinline that was innovative and stylish… that’s why I made my skins with open mouths… I hadn’t seen it done yet and I thought maybe it would be sexy. It was extremely diffricult especially since it was my first time, and the open mouth just made it that much harder.
Amidst all the competition in the market, you seem to have been able to carve a niche for yourself, how did you do ? and how do you keep it up ?
When I first started Cashmere it was because I felt something in SL’s fashion was missing… I felt there was more risks that could be taken… I built my brand on being unique… I’ve struggled in the beginning… I think people needed some time to adjust to fashion that was so outside the norm. My patterns and my matching tends to be a bit unconventional. It took a minute for people to warm up to my clothes but I am very proud of myself. I stayed true to what I believe was fashion. My advice to people looking to get into fashion in SL is to never design for the trend of the moment because then you’re just like everyone else.
You are actually having a 50L$ sale at your mainstore, so I’m wondering what can we look forward to in your upcoming collection?
I have recently become fascinated with shoulder pads. The puffy shoulders seem to be an ongoing theme in some of my new stuff. Things are coming along slowly but they are coming. I’m working on shoes, jewelry new skins, which can be viewed on my Flickr and bags. I really want to expand my brand beyond just clothing.
What do you like to do in your leisure time?
I usually just spend time with my friends like everyone else. That actually is the only thing I enjoy in SL besides shopping.
Last question… One thing, which the world still doesn’t know about you?
I’m extremely sarcastic, I joke around alot. On second thought I think they can gather that from my clothing designs.
Gianni’s designs have timeless chic and a funky flair, make sure to visit her shop today…
